Yarrow.

I found this leave of yarrow in the polder, there it grew in the berm, between the grass.

It gets a lot of sun there, and the ground is most of the time very humid.

And even when the sun shines, the ground is a little bit moist.

Actually the yarrow I found is another sort than the common yarrow,

but I think the common yarrow plant is better known, so I decided to desciribe that one.

Common Yarrow usually grows on nutrient-rich soil and the plant is able to handle droughts.

It grows in woodlands, along arable fields and along the road.

Common Yarrow can get outerst 50 centimeters high.

Yarrow is a leave, which is a kind of double leaf spring piece, why it looks like it exists out of a lot of small leaves.

The leave is green, and the main-vein is light green.

The yarrow is green during winter.

From June until October, some kinds of yarrrow also get flowers, but the sort that grows between the grass doesn’t get flowers.

When the yarrow does get flowers, these flowers are most of the time white and very small. The flowers excist of 5 leaves, and in the middle, all of the flowers have a kind of tubular flowers. The flowers grow in large groups, and because of the size and the colour, I think they look a little bit like cow parsley.

The yarrow doesn’t get fruits or berries, but the leave is edible.

Yarrow reproduces by foothills of the rootstocks, so under the ground, the roots grow very tall and then they come up as a new plant.

Yarrow is used a lot for medicines. It is used for:

– used as stomachic.

– used to provooke appetite.

– used against intestine and stomach problems.

– works against infections and it reduces cramps!
